The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has ordered the Moscow City Court to consider an appeal in which the human rights group Memorial sought to force the authorities to declassify a 2004 decision by the Main Military Office of Public Prosecutor to drop an investigation into the Katyn massacre.
In complaint, Memorial demanded declassification of the Main Military Office of Public Prosecutor decision. The group demands recognition that decision to classify the material in this case was illegal. Satisfied with the Supreme Court’s decision is Alexander Guryanov, a coordinator of the International "Memorial" Polish Commission.

“We suspend adoptions of Russian children by U.S. families” – said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko.
During a press conference the spokesman declared that adoptions will be resumed after signing a bilateral adoption agreement. There has been a media scandal over Artyom Savelyev, 7, who was sent back alone on a plane to Russia by his american adoptive mother.

President Lech Kaczynski and scores of other senior Polish figures have been killed in a plane crash in Russia.
Polish and Russian officials said plane hit treesas it approached Smolensk airport in thick fog. It happened at 8.56 AM(10.56 in Moscow). Poland is in mourning over the deaths of President Lech Kaczynski and much of its defence establishment.
